Our client, a well-established and highly respected engineering business, is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Service Engineer to join their growing service team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, working across a range of manufacturing sites with the support of an experienced technical team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, installing and repairing a variety of precision engineering machinery at customer sites throughout the region.
Your duties will include:
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to minimise machine downtime.
Responding to customer breakdowns and providing effective solutions.
Rebuilding and replacing mechanical components including bearings, spindles and drive systems.
Installing and commissioning new equipment.
Ensuring machinery is correctly aligned, calibrated and operating to specification.
Producing clear service reports following each customer visit.
Providing customers with advice on the safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
Working closely with the internal technical team to identify replacement parts and resolve technical issues.
We’re looking for someone who has:
A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
Previous experience servicing industrial machinery or machine tools.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
The ability to read engineering drawings and technical diagrams.
Experience using precision measuring equipment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
A full UK driving licence.
Experience with CNC machinery or basic electrical fault finding would be advantageous but is not essential.
